Coming up with a route for this adventure was actually much easier than I thought. The Adventure Cycling Route Network provided all the information that I needed and from where I was, there weren’t that many different options to make it across the United States.
Cause that is what I wanted: Make it across to the East Coast.
I saw the Pacific Coast from the perspective of a bicycle in 2012 on my ride from San Francisco south to Los Angeles. Now it was time to go north for a bit before going across.
I decided to head up the coast to Oregon on the Pacific Coast Route and then, when it first intersects with the TransAmerica Trail (in Florence, OR) make a 90 degree turn and follow TransAm all the way to Yorktown, Virginia. And then eventually make my way to Washington, DC to stay with friends of mine.
You can find more details about the route and my current whereabouts on the route page of this site.
